Origin Of Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad-Gita has eighteen (18) chapters and a total of only 700 verses. Anyone can be helped by daily practice of only a few of its teachings.

The word ‘Bhagavad’ means God or The Supreme Lord, Bhagavan in Sanskrit. ‘Gita’ means song. Thus The Bhagavad-Gita means the Song of God. because it was sung by Bhagavan Shri Krishna himself

The Bhagavad Gita is a dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna, set in the middle of a battlefield, where Arjuna is faced with a moral dilemma about fighting his own family members for the throne. Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna the meaning of life, dharma (righteousness), karma (action), and moksha (salvation).

Actually, Bhagavad Geeta is brief of Ved, Puran, and Upnishad. (These are the books written by Veda Viyas who is one of the incarnations of the Supreme soul. these are books of rules and regulations to run this mortal life, same as our school run by some rules and discipline.

The Bhagavad Gita emphasizes the importance of devotion to God, selfless action, dispassion, and realization of the true self. It is considered a spiritual guide for the people of India and has had a profound influence on Indian culture and philosophy over the centuries. The teachings of the Bhagavad Gita have also influenced many scholars, philosophers and spiritual leaders around the world.

In very simple words we soul (Atma) were originally created from Paramatta i.e. Lord Krishna(Supreme Soul). we come into this mortal world for performing Karmas according to Lord Krishna, so for performing Karmas, duties, and responsibilities, he depicted Vedas and Upanishads as having books of rules and regulations to move in Life. (examples in daily life are Home, School, countries, etc run by rules in the form of Values, Time table, and constitution respectively) The purpose of life is to again reunite with Paramatta by proving yourself by performing karmas.

Origin of Bhagavad Gita:

The Bhagavad Geeta was first said by Lord Krishna to Suraya dev before Arjuna, However, when he was given the teachings of the Gita, he had already taken birth on earth as a king." He forwarded it to his son Mannu. Mannu forwarded it to his son Ichavaku, and after that, it got disappeared for some time. So Lord Krishna again spoke to the warrior Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

The Bhagavad Geeta is part of the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata, which is traditionally attributed to the sage Vyasa. Vyasa is said to have composed the Mahabharata, including the Bhagavad Geeta. The same is written by Lord Ganesha

How Kurukshetra Battle Start

In the ancient time there was a king of Place Hatinapur . He had two sons Dhritarashtra and Pandu. Because the former was born blind, Pandu received the throne. Pandu had five sons called as Pandavas. Dhritarashtra was the father of 100 sons and one daughter.Dhritarastras sons were called as Kauravas. The eldest of the Kauravas was Duryodhana.

Origin Of Bhagavad Gita

Yudhisthira, the eldest son of King Pandu, succeeded him as the legitimate King following his death. Duryodhana had intense envy. He likewise desired the kingdom. The Pandavas and the Kauravas split the realm into two half. The share Duryodhana received did not satisfy him. His desir was to get the ownership of the entire kingdom. He tried a number of terrible schemes to assassinate the Pandavas and seize their throne. He managed to seize control of the entire Pandava kingdom and would not cede it without a fight. The great war of the Mahabharata could not be prevented because all attempts at peacemaking by Lord Krishna and others failed.

The Pandavas didn't want to fight, but they had no other option except to defend their rights out of obligation. the conflict and concede defeat in the interest of nonviolence and peace. One of the five Pandava brothers, Arjuna, had to make this decision on the battlefield. Panadvas , Lord krishan and other elders Great grand Father Bhishm Pitamah , Vidhur and many more had tried to avoid war and nonviolence, but in the end they had accept the battel.

The entire eighteen chapters of the Gita are the talk between confused Arjuna and his best friend, mentor and cousin, Lord Krishna --- an incarnation of God --- on the battlefield of Kurukshetra near New Delhi, India, about 5,100 years ago. This conversation was reported to the blind king, Dhritarashtra, by his charioteer, Sanjay (given power of to see distant war by Lord Krishana ) It is recorded in the great epic, Mahabharata.

Origin Of Bhagavad Gita

All lives, human or nonhuman, are sacred, and nonviolence or Ahimsa is one of the most basic principles of Hinduism. So when Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to get up and fight, this may confuse you about the principle of Ahimsa if you don’t keep in mind the background of the war of Mahabharata.
